  • I ordered a cake from here for my best friend's purple baby shower. There were a couple things I loved about this cake. The first was that I scoured the Internet for a cake I liked. After finding three different cakes that I liked parts of, I took all three photos down to Caked. They followed my instructions perfectly and the cake looked almost (we'll get to this later) exactly as I imagined it would. Secondly, the Mom-to-Be really liked it so that was great. After taking down my instructions on the design, flavor, etc., they asked how many guests I would be feeding, I said 10. They rang me up, scheduled my pickup for the day of my event, and I went on my way. I feel like it is important to note that both myself and my co-host could whip up a delicious cake. I chose to order one because I not only wanted a tasty cake but also wanted something beautiful that could add to the aesthetic of the shower. It is this reason that I was disappointed when I picked up the cake. Though gorgeous and designed exactly as I had asked for, the cake was tiny. After thinking about it, I realize that they based the size off of the number of guests and this does make sense to me. However, the more I thought about it, the more it irked me that I paid $15/serving for a tiny two tiered cake covered in fondant and sprinkles. I rarely feel this way but it left me feeling kind of ripped off. The cake (white cake with a layer of strawberry butter cream frosting) tasted sort of plain to me. I generally find a cake to be delicious when it can stand on its own, without the sweet frosting. This slice needed all the help the frosting could muster as it was bland and a touch dry. I found everyone who worked in the bakery to be pleasant and professional. For this reason and the fact that they followed my instructions exactly, I have added a star to what would have otherwise been a two star review. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from here again. While the cake was beautiful, it just seemed really overpriced.
