The food here was absolutely excellent. Even though there were only two of us, we ordered a lot of food because we couldn't decide. The owner was amazing and described not only the ingredients, but the health benefits of each.
Scoop of ahi: Came as a salad. The fish was fresh seasoned amazingly, and had a housemade dressing. Despite the creamy dressing, the ahi wasn't overpowered. Two scoops of this would make an excellent lunch.
"Scoop" of steak: Don't let the name fool you. This is actually a small tenderloin of hanger steak cooked perfectly to Man's exact medium rare liking. I tasted a piece of the medium-ish edge. It was wonderfully seasoned.
Meatball sliders: I love a good meatball and these did not disappoint. They came on a toasted brioche bun. My only criticism of the entire meal is that the sliders needed sauce. The cook happily obliged in giving us a to-go cup of sauce when we packed up out leftovers.
Italian pide: I'm a Chicago girl and a pizza snob, so I won't compare the pide to pizza, but definitely better than any calzone I've had. The crust was soft and filling but not heavy. I was surprised the cheese and sauce was also in the rolled up edges. This is definitely enough for two people to share. Also love that the owner described the difference between his crust and typical crusts. I'm a convert and without a doubt will be back to try each type.
Marguerite chicken: I was so surprised this place has "real" food entrees on the menu. When brought to the table, I would have though with flavor and presentation that I was in any high end free standing restaurant. The veggies weren't just an afterthought and I love the quinoa instead of rice. Bravo!!
Overall, one of my new favorite places. The friendly staff and casual atmosphere only add to the hominess of the entire experience. I would have give 5 stars if only I could have had an adult beverage to accompany my amazing meal. See you next visit!
