| - Law school has required a lot more healthcare and self care (chiropractor, massage, eye doctors, etc.) lately - more than I have ever required. Wife found this place for me after trying out a few others. I am now a repeat customer of Ranita's. She listens to the current concerns up front (typically my neck/shoulders) and then does her magic. I melt on the table. She also takes direction well and will ask about pressure, comfort, etc. So, if you like it one way or the other - explain that. Some don't listen even after explaining. This is not the case here. She will implement hot towels if you are willing. Since I suffer from a lot of neck pain, as long as my nerves aren't particularly inflamed that day, I go for the heat to relax the muscles. She also does some stretching, which helps me release in that compressed area. In general, she is a peaceful spirit - which is helpful with any massage. Her energy is comforting and her passion to make others better is evident.
As far as the atmosphere, I love the location and environment. From the moment you walk in, it's peace and tranquility. I am not talking about the commercialized kind with stereotypical asian artwork and such. There is a sign that explicitly states that you have entered a quiet zone, the therapists speak lightly to influence their clients to do the same, and the music is helpful to set the mood. The rooms are carefully set up with curtains that keep the area dark, the sheets are to die for (they sell them, too), and the temperature is always on point - but even if you are one of those folks who is wearing a jacket when everyone else is in short sleeves or burning up when others are asking for heat, there are multiple layers of covering to adjust as needed.
