Great stay at the Doubletree Hotel in Downtown PIttsburgh. Location is convenient for those catching a hockey game at the Consol Center or venturing out to the other attractions in pittsburgh. The new subway system is directly across from the hotel and can be used to get to PNC park and the casino. ( also, it's free!).
The Staff was warm and welcoming upon entering the hotel and greated us with warm chocolate chip cookies. They were always helpful and accomodating when asked questions about the area and the hotel. There is also a 7 eleven connected to the hotel which was great for snacks and forgotton items. - Please note that the hotel has a tiny shop with items for sale that you may have forgotton such as hairspray, a tooth brush, etc. 7 eleven has just about the same selections of items and it apprears that they're slightly cheaper than getting them at the hotel.
My only gripe that prevents me from giving this hotel a 5 star rating ( based on what I paid) is the thin walls. We had a hard time sleeping the first night because of the loud partying going on nextdoor which is the worst I've ever experienced staying at a hotel. I saw similar complaints on Trip advisor and thought they were just from misserable people who like to complain but I completely understood what they were complaining about. It was definitely an inconvenience.
With that said, I think I'd still go back and stay at the doubletree again. It was convenient, the price was great and the staff was very accomodating.
