My wife and I have been going to the Portly Piper for about 7 years now and quite enjoy it. It's not a perfect restaurant by any means but for the most part we enjoy it. The food is good, everything we've eaten there has been good except I think a club with processed meat (one has fresh and the other has processed meat, I can't remember which is which). The appetizers are good, the mains are good. The service is really good 90% of the time and there is an occasional miss. Once we ordered a Creemore beer and the waitress brought a really light colored beer (think Coors light). We tried to send it back and explain Creemore is a darker beer but she refused to take it back and insisted it was Creemore. (it wasn't).
The real drawback to the Piper is how loud it is. If you go at dinner time for example it is really loud. If you go on wing night and there is a sporting event on it is SUPER loud. Don't expect to be able to hold a conversation with someone, it's literally that bad. If people can't hear the game because of the chatter then they turn up the TV's, if the customers can't hear each other they talk louder and again they seem to turn up the TV's.
My wife and I will continue to visit but only on off hours to avoid the crowds and noise.
