So, last night I went to Staples with a work colleague and we received some very rude treatment from the Staples employee. We walked in to simply send a fax. My colleague had her papers and walked to the fax machine and right away was interrupted by this man who was Asian, average height, black glasses and receding hairline. I wish I got his name. He interrupted us rudely by saying "Ummm that's not gonna work and you're gonna have to make a copy and then fax it."
So we went to the fax machine and my colleague put the papers in, and when she hit start the button flashed "Insert card". I haven't been to Staples in a long time so I never heard of the card. I usually just go to the customer service desk and ask them to make copies or fax and I pay right there. So, we asked the same man "What card?" and he's says " A Staples card. Or a credit card. It doesn't take coins!"
Ummm...I never thought it took coins so that assumption was not necessary. We inserted the card and it kept popping out saying the card was "damaged". I even turned the card around and tried it another way. I put it in delicately hoping it would just swallow the card but it would accept the card and then shoot it back out with the "damaged" message flashing. So, I ask the irritable representative that we dealt with earlier about why the card is being rejected. He sighs as if he's annoyed and stomps over. It's not as if there was another rep available so I had no choice but to ask him.
He takes the card from me and says in a condescending tone "You can't just shove the card in aggressively." Ummmm....excuse me? I say " Uhhh. Yea, I never did put it in aggressively. Were you watching?" and he ignored that question and then went on to say that the instructions are there on the printer and he "doesn't have the time" to show us what to do and walked off.
We figured it out on our own and I couldn't wipe the disgusted look off my face until we left the store.
