I'm Vietnamese so I have pretty high standards when it comes to pho. It's hard to compare restaurant pho to homemade, but Pho Van's is pretty decent compared to other pho joints in Pittsburgh. The ingredients are fresh and the price is affordable. Slightly smaller portions and slightly higher prices than its competitor, Vietnam's Pho, down the street. However, the restaurant decor at Pho Van is more intimate and inviting. One thing I noticed after eating pho here, though, is that it left me incredibly thirsty which can only mean one thing: lots of msg. So if the idea of msg doesn't bother you, this place has decent soup for decent money.
