| - After years of putting it off, a friend's impending wedding forced me to go buy a decent suit. I wanted to do it with a minimum of fuss, but being short and skinny, I knew it would be a challenge to find something suitable (excuse the pun) at most stores and so I decided to go make Brown's my first stop.
When I first started to look at the suits I definitely had some sticker shock; most seemed to start at around $500, which I know is standard for quality suits but which is still a lot of money for someone without very much income. Luckily they were having a sale, and the only discounted black suit left was in my size. Including a $35 fee for some minor alterations (usually free, but not on items on sale) and with taxes, I paid $435 for a really nice suit.
Some words about the staff: for various reasons I was nervous going into Brown's, but couldn't have asked for better service. Upon entering one of the salesmen, Armando, greeted us (my partner accompanied me) and told us to let him know if we needed any help. After it became clear that we were a bit overwhelmed he approached us once again, and without pressuring me, suggested I try on the suit I eventually purchased; he intervened just enough without being overbearing.
I do wish they had some slightly less pricey options; if it hadn't been for the sale I probably would have walked out empty-handed.
