  • I live 2 miles from here. I was told to come here to buy 6 bottles of wine, because something about a discount on 6 bottles and about tasting before buying. I was told they had a bar and tastings. So, I went into the bar area and sat down at a table. A second later, a couple (a Caucasian man and a Caucasian woman) sat down at another table across from me. The bartender went to the couple. Gave them the first tasting. Then the 2nd second tasting. Still has not acknowledged me. How much time do you think has passed? I mean, for the bartender to greet the couple, ask them how they're doing, ask for their order, discuss what they like, answer questions, pour two tastings, serve the tastings, follow up to get their opinions of the samples, and even washed the glasses. Confused yet? Yeah. Point is, too effing long. I thought, oh, maybe he didn't see me. Still sitting at the table patiently. Maybe he can only serve one table at a time. You know, someone who doesn't multi-task very well. Whatever. After waiting so long, I moved to the bar. He finally he looks at me. It takes a few more minutes for him to actually approach me and ask what I wanted to drink. Doesn't apologize for the wait. So I just asked for a taste of the pinot noir they had on special. I took a taste and where they had it shelved. The bottle was over $30 and I bought it. I went about to pick other bottles of wine and headed to the register. The cashier was so rude. She had this "yelling as a normal way of talking" about her. I'm just being kind. She was rude. My first reaction was, wth is her problem. Whatever it was, it was unpleasant. I paid and walked out. As I was in the parking lot, I thought how horrible I was treated. Seriously, a friggin grocery store. LOL Ridiculous. My initial thought was, maybe these workers are just dumb. Maybe expecting average service was just "too much" for this location. Considering someone to be dumb would be better than to think they were racist. Racism rarely ever crosses my mind. But when I walked out of the store, I felt a sadness...as if I was judged...rather than someone was just being dumb... That was my first and last visit. I hope Safeway corporate reads this post. I'm saving it just in case it gets mysteriously removed. Additional training would be much appreciated. Perhaps, training on overall human respect.
