My overall impression of sprouts is that it's the love-child of Trader Joe's & Whole Foods. It's large & spacious like Whole Foods, with lots of fresh, in store made items such a baked goods, deli meats, sandwiches, sushi & smoothies... these aspects of it remind me of Whole Foods because the standard options are organic or of a novelty brand name. ( Pro Tip: Try the Vegan Superfruit Muffin 4/pk is only $2.99 )
But their produce section has some really fantastic prices and you'll find select deals on various items through out the store that are so good, It definitely compares to Trader Joe's.. for example; GT Kombucha bottles; All Flavors are $1.78 a piece. And Heirloom Tomatoes are $3 for 2 lbs - I weighed 2 lbs to be equivalent to about 4 or 5 tomatoes. Also they have lots of gourmet pre-made meals such as Greek chicken with potatoes and giant meatballs, pasta and even Chinese style orange chicken. The prices for these were reasonable and I was excited to purchase them for lunches at work.
My favorite score from Sprouts were the pre-sliced and packaged Gyro meat in the deli section! I have never found Gyro meat in any other store before and it was really exciting to be able to make a gyro at home with my own tzaiki and pita bread.
I won't be making Sprouts our standard grocery store for weekly shopping because I am obsessed with Harris Teeters weekly EVIC sales and the convenience of their multiple locations but Sprouts will be revisited at least once a month for stocking up on those Novelty items that add a little more spice to your life.
