| - I had an overall positive experience with National Stone. I selected a beautiful quartz countertop material (national brand) for my kitchen at another store. National Stone offered an unbranded product with a very similar look for about 55% of the price. I'm very happy with the ultimate result. The finishing detail on the waterfall sides of my island is very good. After installation, I noticed a couple of "glossy" spots on the countertop. Seemed to be some sort of adhesive or glue and I couldn't remove it with standard household cleaners. I called, emailed a couple photos, and the field tech was out within a couple days to take care of the minor issue. (The spots were easily removed with acetone. He even left me a little acetone in case I noticed any additional spots.)
There are just a couple minor reasons why I've given four stars instead of five.
1) The material was delayed a couple weeks beyond the date it was originally scheduled to arrive. While I understand customs clearance isn't always an exact science, it still delayed my project by about three weeks. Being without a kitchen is never fun!
2) I used an under-mount, stainless steel apron-front sink. The previous three times I've purchased new countertops, the sink has always been installed by the countertop installers. I was under the impression that this would be completed by National Stone, however the installers on site told me that I could install it after the countertops were finished. That would have been fine, but the bowl of the sink is about an inch lower than the apron front, so I wasn't able to slide the sink into the space. I had to cut out an inch on the cabinet face which now needs to be patched and repaired. Minor inconvenience, provided I can get the cabinet face patched and re-finished correctly, but it would have been nice if the sink would have been installed along with the countertop. (Note: I wasn't expecting them to install the support brackets for the sink or plumb it, just epoxy it to the counter and set in place with the stone.)
Overall, I would absolutely use National Stone again in the future, but I'd make sure to discuss sink installation in a little more detail :-)
