  • Oh boy, get ready for some of the worst hours/days of your life, if you are unfortunate to come here. Every aspect of your stay here is designed to make it as uncomfortable and agonizing as humanly possible for you. When you first arrive, things don't appear too bad as you sit in the initial waiting area for your name called, an cold metal chairs. At this point you still have your street clothes on and you might be sorta comfortable still. You might still be in shock as to what happened, and thinking you are going to get in and out of their and trying to be positive. Slowly but surely, you will see some of the people there with you mouthing off to police and getting crazy, while the police put them in their place, and will drag them to small room for punishment if they dont cooperate, with force and foul language along the way. You will start seeing prostitutes, drunks, criminals, of every nationality & age coming through. You will probable sit in this area for 3-4 hours, and then you will choose one short to wear, and they take your shoes and socks and give you nasty sandals, while the room is as cold as a refrigerator. Next, you will be taken through booking, where they take your mugshot and fingerprints. By the way, if you think you will be getting out in 12 hours for a detox, apparently this is the time that they start counting from, so the 3-4 hours you already wasted is irrelevant. However, you will not ever be getting out in 12 hours from that time even, wishful thinking. Once you get through this, you will sit in another seating area with cold metal chairs. You have to raise your hand to call a friend or family member or use the restroom/get water. You will wait here for many hours, waiting to get into a holding tank. I waited their about 5 hours, and some of the people around me were waiting there for 8-9 hours, with no rhyme or reason. Be prepared to be treated like a child and criminal by the staff, whether you were innocent or guilty. You will speak to a nurse, who will ask you questions to protect their liability incase you have a serious medical condition, but dont expect any compassion or help from them, its not like visiting your family Dr. After sitting here for at least 4-5 hours, I was taken to a holding tank. I waked in a small concrete room, with 2 benches on each side. Under the benches were people sleeping on concrete, dirty, cold floor, while some were laying/sitting on benches, and some standing up. The pace smelled of urine, and the toilet is dirty and everyone can watch you if you decide to use it. I found a place in the corner on the floor to sit. There were way to many people in this small room, with nowhere to sit. They brought food in at 11 am, and it was mush on a plastic tray. It was a white creamy mess that I couldn't tell was tuna or chicken, and some soggy vegetables. I couldn't eat it, as well as many around me. A homeless guy pleaded to all of us to give him our food, as he hadn't eaten in 2 days. Then another guy had the same request. I gave to him gladly, as well as some other guys. He devoured it like you couldn't imagine, as it spilled all over him and on the floor. Next was a scene from COPS TV show. They brought in a loud talking man who was in solitary confinement, and has been in the system many times. He appeared to be a little crazy, but I didn't care as he stood next to me. A guy at the other end of the cell didn't like his loud mouth, and told him to shut up, and used racial slurs. This went on back and forth, and then they squared off in the middle of the cell. No punches were thrown yet, and they appeared to finally squash it, as they returned to their corners. Racial slurs went back and forth between them still, and then the guy next to me went and wrapped his hands in toilet paper to protect his punch marks, and were to his corner and provoked a fight. They got each other in head locks, and started throwing punches at each other. Everyone in the cell just watched with no emotion, as well as me as I was in shock and tired still. A cop finally walked by and saw what was going on, and didn't even flinch and appeared emotionless, and looked like her was going to just let them fight. Apparently he must have set an alarm for the other cops to come in a break it up. 5 cops came in with tasers and batons, and broke it up, as they slammed each of them to the ground. One of the cops pointed his taser towards of of the guys, which made me nervous as it could have hit me if he missed the guy. I heard the grunts and moans of pain of one of the guys on the ground, as they pushed his face and body on ground while they handcuffed him. They were both taken out, and everyone in the cell just sat there as if nothing happened. You will sit in this holding cell for hours and hours, not knowing what time of day it is. They will not tell you when you will be getting out even if you post bail, and you will be here at least 24 hours, but usually 2 days. Don't Go!
