| - I hadn't been to a F&E since the one nearest me had closed.
I used to go for two things: the reasonably priced pre-made items that were fresher than typical frozen foods and the ability to score bargains. The selection of freshly prepared foods is much less, and the prices are high....and I'm used to Sprouts prices, no one's idea of a bargain mecca.
I think F&E should stop trying to be a replacement for a full supermarket and eliminate it's non-edibles at least. The high prices and lack of selection really make it hard to want to go back. Particularly, belying its image, the choices are not the healthiest (once away from the fruits and vegetables). High fat and high sodium rule.
I'm not sure if I had the same lady who Kimberly (in another review) experienced, but some friends who frequent this location also know of a lady who is a bit gruff at checkout. As I was setting up to checkout a female employee impatiently told me that my balance was zero. Yes, I politely explained, I had within the last second pushed the "Start" button. Hence, no balance, no merchandise in the bagging area. I purchased a bottle of wine which, naturally, prompted me to wait for an employee to put in a code. She came and scolded me for not putting the wine in the bagging area. She gruffly told me that if I don't put it in the bagging area, I couldn't continue scanning. Again I summoned patience and said that with the liquor override code needed, I couldn't continue scanning anyway. She huffed and said it had to go in the bagging area to register the weight. I found her a bit offensive. A bit nutty. I was a bit offended, my last impression upon leaving the place. Kind of the final reason to not go back.
