  • My wife, friends and I have made it a tradition to visit Bistro every New Years, for at least the past 6 years. It has always been a hit with us, amazing food, great service. In 2018 though, it is obvious something has drastically changed in the food quality and the way they address the menu. This was the first year they offered a limited menu, in the past you could order off of the regular menu which is one of the reasons we always go there. We did not ask, so shame on us for booking the reservation without asking, we had assumed it would be the same. The limited menu featured 4 options, each with a 4 course serving for 70.00 a person. I choose the halibut and my wife and friends choose the filet, which was nothing like the filet they had in the past. It seemed to be more of a bone in rib eye steak. The cut was different, it was a huge piece of meat which was not nearly as tender as usual. My halibut was pan seared to death, hard and dried up. The entrees and apps were of very large portions, too large in my opinion. It seems obvious they are focusing on quantity and not quality. Our server was nice enough, fairly attentive. Not nearly as experienced as servers in the past though. She did not offer up one description of any menu item or make any suggestions. More of an order filler than a higher end server. I would expect this at many places, but this is one of the details that made Bistro what it was in the past. After all, this isn't Fridays. The final nail in the coffin was the ever so famous bread pudding, which I had been looking forward to. Again, the recipe had changed, it was dried out and not nearly the same as in years past. I don't know if they have changed chefs, but this was disappointing to say the least. With drinks, tip and meals my wife and I spent over 200.00 for dinner, all for food and service that was average at best. I cannot say we have much interest in trying it again, which is sad because it is our tradition.
