  • Without hesitation, I can say this is my favorite grocery store in Las Vegas. The produce always looks and smells fresh, and the bakery makes all kinds of delicious treats that you'll never find at other grocery store bakeries. My favorite things in the store are all the way against the wall on the left after you walk in: the magical place where fresh tortillas are made; the refrigerators where super fresh condiments like salsas, pico de gallo, ceviche, peppers, carrots and onions, guacamole live and await the happy trip to your house and tummy; and a small eatery that serves up some of the most amazing street tacos and such. Hey, don't they say you shouldn't shop hungry? Well, it's your fault if you do My other two favorites are along the right side of the store: a crazy good assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables, many of which you won't find in the major food stores, and the bakery that I mentioned before. The prices are definitely competitive and in some cases they blow the other food stores away. There's music playing and it always makes me smile. It'll help brighten you up after a long day if you stop into the store in the evening, and the staff is wonderful. When it comes to asking for help to find something, or when checking out, don't worry if you don't speak Spanish. It seems everyone who works there is bilingual. If you want try your Spanish speaking skills out, go ahead. No one will think less of you. Cardenas is definitely a friendly place. The parking will appear full, but there are always plenty of spaces open. Just keep in mind that there seems to be this thing that goes on that causes people not to pay attention to the lines that define the parking slots or driving directions. Hey: you're not there for driving school or to be the parking enforcement guy or gal. Park your car and get inside to buy your cart or two of deliciousness. If you've never been to Cardenas before, go grab some fresh tortillas and condiments, something from the eatery, or something from the bakery to begin the habit you're going to form. Enjoy!
