| - I've been to Forno Cultural several times. When it first opened, it was a great new addition to that area of King. The owner was very inviting, giving details about the store and the baked goods. They have a few gluten-free options that were tasty enough and the decor and espresso options added to the place. Great place to pick up sweets for parties / events.
I recently came here, the place not too busy for a weekend morning but not empty. As I was standing waiting to be served, I kept on waiting....
There was one person putting some of the baked goods away right in front of me. Completely ignoring me. It wasn't just once, he kept getting more goods and putting them away in front me, ignoring me! The other server was busy with someone. After what seemed to be a few minutes he finally asked if I wanted something. By the way - he was not putting things away - away from me. He was moving them in front me (the glass) so seeing me several times, a foot away. No "I''ll be with you in a moment", "have you decided", can I help you? That glazed look of pretending someone isn't there - standing a mere inches from you! Once I finally ordered, the woman at the cash then took people before me - even though I was the next human being in front of her.
The whole experience was weird and unsettling. The place wasn't packed. They weren't understaffed - just poor customer service. I thought it was an off day, but after checking it here, seems like others have had bad customer service as well, so decided to write up.
Yes, the food and coffee here are good - and the decor. But I want the experience I got here when it first opened. They've lost their charm.
