| - I was in a rental car with CA plates on the I-15 South. I had the cruse control set and the speed was displayed on the digital display. I was cruising in #2 lane past the resort corridor when I was pulled over by an NHP officer who told me he paced me going 83mph! Absolute bullshit. He pulled me over because he saw the CA plates and thought easy ticket as a CA resident won't come back to fight it. However, he was very nice and polite so I didn't fight it. The ticket was $200 but because the Las Vegas Justice Court engages in financial extortion, if you pay a $100 convenience fee (as they call it), it automatically gets dropped to a parking ticket with no points or record on your drivers license.
I've called NHP to report drivers speeding in excess of 120mph on the I-15 and they are only interested in my name, how to spell it, my phone, how fast I'm going, who I am, bla bla bla. I've also been hung up on by NHP dispatchers. You read correctly, called NHP for help and have been hung up on!
What NHP needs to do is step up enforcement efforts for DUI and aggressive/excessive speed drivers. And get some type of efficiency going. With only 8 troopers in the valley on a shift, spending 2-3 hours typing paperwork per DUI arrest, when they should be on patrol, is insane.
