Let me start by saying I donate to HALO every time I go to Petsmart Deer Valley Location and I have adopted a pet through them. I am really sad to write this post.
I recently had to drop off my dog early for a comprehensive exam at Banfield on Saturday August 29th so I headed over to the HALO office to see if they were open. It was about 7:45ish, volunteers were there already feeding the cats and I tried to open the door to the dog kennels. They were still closed but what I saw really disgusted me.
I wish I had taken a picture to prove it. I hope they will see this post and be embarrassed by the way they are treating the animals.
I saw 10+ small dogs (like chihuahuas and terriers) in there front glass section with feces everywhere. I didn't understand why these dogs were not in there small kennels and then it dawned on me. Have you ever seen these dogs for adoption be taken out to use the bathroom?
I was very sad to see this.
I honestly do not know how they handle dog waste but this was awful to see so many in the space and that there was so many piles of poop. This makes me think that they all slept in that space all night. It has concrete floors and is too small for that many dogs.
To my knowledge you could see this for your self if this is a regular occurrence as Petsmart opens at 7 am (or so I was told by staff). I know I am going to check again when I bring in my other dog for an early morning drop off.
Don't really know what to think about this.
