I bought a Groupon which I thought was a sweet deal for two hours of Jump Time. Arrived and noticed that they changed a few things, and for the better, like their menu and the fact that there were signs posted telling people where the dodgeball areas are. I would have given them a 5 star but I kept it at a 4 star and here is the reason why. Music... I'm not sure who is authorized to select their music and if management can do something about it and appoint someone or have a "safe" list but here is the scenario that took place. When we arrived they had iheartradio on playing some 80s tunes (which, mind you, I was liking that). Most 80s mainstream music is safe. Well, someone decided to change it to today's music which I have NO problem with. The problem came when I heard the song GDFR start playing and it was unedited and specifically the word 'ass' blared over their sound system. If you are unfamiliar with the lyrics here is the part in the song I heard "It's a stick up, no more makeup Get that A** on the floor Ladies put your lipstick up". So I asked the staff if management approved the music selection. No one there had a clue. The reason I 'complained' was because I didn't want something worse to start playing and sure enough 'Payphone' by Maroon 5 started and right AFTER the lyrics "All those fairytales are full of SH*T. One more F**KING love song, I'll be sick" came on they awkwardly stopped the song and picked another 'safer' station playing today's music. Thank GOD they didn't get to Wiz Khalifa's rap verse in that song!!!
I will add that a member of staff did apologize for what occurred.
Look... There are kids there and adults who don't want their kids to hear explicit lyrics in a public place. I understand that the 80s were a long time ago and maybe the staff working there didn't like the music but play it safe and be more aware of the people who pay money to your establishment. We aren't at a night club partying it up, we are at Jump City with our kids...
4 stars was generous.
