  • I really dislike this airport immensely - only the friendly staff save it from a one star rating. The portion of the airport dedicated to U.S. departures was ridiculously small, very dirty and overcrowded. How the hell did this place handle the Olympics? Once your trapped in the U.S. departure area, there is only one set of washrooms. The men's was completely filthy. It smelled, garbage cans overflowing and the floor was soaked from a clogged toilet. Three of five urinals were under repair. Disgusting. The departure gates are incredibly small. The area was filled with garbage lying around, and so many people were crowded into each small departure gate. Also too little seating for people to wait. Going through Canadian customs took forever. Please get some self serve terminals to speed up the process. On a positive note, the domestic portion of the airport has a wide selection of food options - better than most Canadian airports. In addition to sit down options, there was a full food court. I will not fly through Calgary again, certainly not if I'm headed to the U.S. That's what I get for booking my trip 5 days before departing! BK
