I was on the fence between 1 or 2 stars for this place. I went with 2. I guess the food wasn't absolutely terrible. Just not very good.
We were here for quick lunch before heading back to the airport to catch our flight so we just had a couple appetizers to share.
Gumbo, frog legs, crab cakes, creole fries. All pretty bland (although the gumbo did have a nice kick). No depth of flavor. I got the impression the cooks here are just recipe followers who aren't putting any passion or effort into the food they're putting out.
Gumbo: 95% white rice in a bowl with a couple chunks of Andouille sausage and a couple shrimps.
Crab Cakes: Looked great on my plate until I dug into it with a fork and it completely disintegrated into a pile of flavorless bread crumbs and very little crab or anything else. Mostly just dry flavorless breadcrumbs.
Frog legs: Ive never tried them but thought Id give them a try here. They tasted like flavorless, greasy chicken wings (although meatier than a typical chicken wing). The breading covered maybe 30% of the meat, the rest was all over the plate.
Hand Cut Creole Fries: I don't know what that pretty colored red seasoning was on the fries. But it tasted like nothing.
We thought of having dinner here on one of our nights out while staying at the MGM for the weekend. Glad we went somewhere else instead.
This place has been part of the MGM's restaurant offerings for a while but I would say it has probably seen better days.
