My dishwasher was not drying the dishes no matter what cycle I used. I'm used to hand-drying some plastic items, but not even the glass and ceramic items were dry. I put up with this nonsense until the soap dispensing door decided to stick shut so that no cleaner was getting into the cycles. It was right before Thanksgiving and I wasn't about to deal with any more nonsense.
My home warranty company HWA (Home Warranty of America) originally assigned one company, but it was determined through a phone call that they could service my type of GE dishwasher (with the digital controls on the top of the door) so HWA sent ABM Appliance & Electronic Services to check out the problem.
Eric, the service technician arrived on time and made a precursory inspection of the dishwasher. He ordered a new soap dispenser and also a new top rack at my request (he took a photo of the rusted and broken wire pieces so it could be covered by the warranty.) He said it would take 2-3 weeks to get in the parts and that he should have it fixed by Christmas. He supposedly ordered a new heating element for the door too. He seemed very rushed and spoke in Ukrainian to the woman on the phone at the office that processed my credit card payment. I chatted about my grandparents being from there, but it didn't seem to help with building a rapport. I wished him a happy Thanksgiving and got no response as he left. Very unfriendly.
He came back with the new parts. My soap dispenser works great and I am happy to have a new rack. However, I'm on the fence about whether the heating element is working as well as it should. I've only done about 5 loads of dishes - all loads filled with unusual cookware from the holidays so it's too soon to tell if it will be effective on regular loads. I dread having to deal with this company again because they don't seem big on customer service. The lady called to make a service appointment hung up on me because she couldn't hear me and I couldn't understand her at first. Eric was equally unfriendly on his second visit and I couldn't wait for him to leave. This is a huge contrast to the other service technician from 5 Star Home Services that came to replace my disposal in the same week. I am letting HWA know my opinions on both these companies.
