  • I went to this salon a while back ago in effort to save some money. I believe at the time it was $65 for a haircut at my regular salon, and when I saw this salon was advertising $25 haircuts, I thought I couldn't go wrong. I was seated promptly when I arrived. I asked for just a haircut, and showed the hairstylist (whose name I can't recall for the life of me) an example of the cut I was looking for. At the time my hair was passed my shoulders. I showed her a cut that was a lot like Jennifer Anniston's from Friends back in the days. It was a relatively simple, yet classy cut that I was confident any hairstylist would be capable of doing. She washed my hair quickly and we were back to the chair. As she began cutting, my smile quickly turned into a frown over the half hour she spent cutting. I kept telling myself not to say anything, as she wasn't done, and maybe she just had a different method than my regular hair stylist. As each snip of hair fell to the floor, I gritted my teeth over and over. The second half of the half hour, she turned me around so I could not see the mirror, and I prayed that that was when she would work her magic. But at the end of haircut, she turned me around and there it was. What was supposed to be a beautiful layered cut was what appeared to be a frizzy 80's bowl cut. I was horrified, and nearly began crying. My husband, who had been sitting in the waiting area, noticed my panic, and in an effort to help, asked her if it was possible to style it for me as well (like my regular hairstylist does). She agreed, but stated it would be an extra $10. My husband reluctantly agreed, gave me a sympathetic reassuring smile, and walked back to the waiting area. She then proceeded to style it by doing five minutes of blow drying and sending me on my way. No straightener, no curler, no combs or brushes. It looked like a frizzy mess on a humid day in the 80's. I cried all the way home. I ended up spending the $65 to visit my regular hairstylist to have her fix it the next day. Immediately when my hairstylist saw me, she pointed out how the previous hairstylist caused damaged and frayed ends to my hair, which resulted in the frizziness. She looked at the picture I had shown the other stylist of what I wanted, and stated that she had no idea how the original stylist ended up turning it into a bowl cut. She was able to fix my hair to the best of her ability, but unfortunately for the following few months, every day was a bad hair day. In the following days after my haircut I contacted the owner of Sandy's Oasis Salon to advise her of what had happened. Each time I called, she was never there. I left my name and number twice, and never received a call back. $35 for the original haircut at Sandy's Oasis and then $65 plus tip to my regular stylist for fixing it. It was an expensive lesson to learn.
