MAN I WANTED TO LOVE THIS PLACE but I just didn't. I've driven past it many times and it looked cool from the outside. When we decided to go for dinner there weren't many people inside which is never a good sign.
Our server was a pro - I'll give him that much. The ambiance is cool, but the food was just "try too hard." Pretentious and snobby. I can make better guacamole in my own kitchen. It was bland and creamy.
I ordered something that our server said is "our take on fajitas." How about we just skip "your take" and just serve fajitas like they're supposed to be. Cauliflower just isn't meant to be served in fajitas. Small portions leave you walking away hungry.
The nervous manager that was walking around had a constant look of concern on his face. It's like they know they are trying so hard to be trendy and scared they're missing it. There's a vibe of insecurity within the staff.
I can go to a humble mom and pop place (Restaurant El Rey) a mile away and enjoy way better Mexican food for a fraction of the price.
I'm sure some people will think it's avant-garde but I'm going to pass on this one. I'll let the tourists and conference go-ers from Wisconsin enjoy this place.
