The more I go to Vivace, the more I like it. This place is fantastic! I have a lot of respect for their originality and creativity.
A small group of us went for brunch yesterday. $25 gets you an appetizer, main course and either bottomless Mimosas or Bloody Marys.
The Bloody Mary mix here has a bite - lots of pepper and horseradish - a nice dense, delicious, refreshing house blend.
I enjoyed the PEI Mussels to start, again some heat, reminiscent of GB's Fiery Mussels but I do have to say the Brussel Sprouts with bacon and potatoes (as much as we've all seen Brussel Sprouts this past year) were simply awesome.
The main course was a tough choice - plenty of great sounding choices to pick from. I opted for Eggs in Purgatory. Whoa momma! Great stuff! A chunky bed of spicy red sauce with Guanciale (cured pork jowl - tastes kind of like a cross between salami and pancetta) and Calabrian Peppers. Add two pieces of smoky grilled bread with perfectly poached eggs on top. I did not regret my choice, at all, but I did get to sample the Short Rib Hash and Quiche Fiorentino (a slab of a portion), both of which I wouldn't hesitate to order next time.
Brunch was indeed impressive. I really enjoyed sitting upstairs as well = much better views of outside and the downstairs dining room. Great service, great price. Very busy on Sundays so make a reservation!!!
