After my review, the owner contacted me and apologized saying they had an issue with the display fridge which was the cause of the stale macarons. He was very genuinely apologetic. He offered me store credit for a second chance on the macarons and the eclair.
I went back to the store and he came out personally to apologize. I felt he took ownership of the problem instead of just brushing me aside (like butter avenue on queen St). I was not expecting to be contacted. Good for him.
I tried one macaron in the store which was definitely better. The eclair was great this time (gold one). We also picked up a salted caramel crumble which was pretty good. This was all courtesy of the owner.
Revised rating to 4 star from 3 for good follow up.
