  • Just joined recently and have been very impressed so far. It's on the almost complete opposite end of C-U from where I live but worth the drive each day. The clientele covers all ages but not mobs of college students like many gyms. There are plenty of cardio machines (treadmills, elipticals, cycles, etc.), some with built on TV screens to break the monotony. The weight machines cover the entire body. Free weights are ample. There is enough equipment or different varieties to satisfy just about any exercise need. Locker facilities are great with lots of amenities available. A nice lounge provides coffee and tea and tables and sofas and direct access to a walking path. There is a plethora of classes to take for cardio, strength, and mind/body, as well as cooking. The staff is friendly and helpful and always available to answer questions. Many already know my name (Is that good or bad?). I had a dizziness episode in one of the classes and was walked to a room to take my BP and given water. Several staff members came by to check on me and I received emails and calls from staff later to check up on how I was doing. That is impressive customer service. So many places sign you up and forget about you. Not here. I feel I am in the right place to achieve my fitness goals and look forward to taking classes and working with the people here. My special thanks to Melissa, Emily, Joy, Eddie, Garrett, Leigh, and Sarah, all caring people. FOLLOW UP: It's been one year since I wrote the above review and I am still enjoying my membership at Mettler Center. I am 25 pounds lighter (although that would be more if I was more conscientious about the dieting part), more flexible, stronger, and just feel better in general. All that I said above still holds true. This is a great facility at which to work towards health and fitness goals. Yesterday, owners Paul and Lisa Mettler put out a spead of food in the morning and evening to thank members and to enroll new ones. Mingling with staff and fellow members was great fun. The people here create an atmosphere that makes you want to come and exercise and they provide you with the tools to achieve goals. Some people say Mettler Center is expensive to join. Well, if you join and come once a week to walk on a treadmill, it may very well be. Anything is expensive if you pay for it and don't use it. However, if you avail yourself of classes, equipment, and other services on a regular basis, it is a bargain. For example, one Yoga class at another facility is listed at $130 for twelve weekly classes. That comes to $563 a year just for Yoga. At Mettler, that would get you several classes a week of Yoga, plus Pilates, cardio classes, strength classes, and access to the entire facility and its equipment and staff. No, I don't get paid to sing their praises. No freebies at all. Just promoting someplace that I believe in. Come try it out someday.
