  • We just arrived back home from our mini vacation from this resort, the whole flight home my wife and I discussed how disappointed underwhelmed we were in our stay here on so many levels. Please consider this review as feedback from our stay from August 4-7th. We usually stay at other JW or Ritz Carlton resorts when on vacation and hoped this location would be on par with many of the others we have stayed, unfortunately it didn't come close! In full disclosure this may be be s great spot if your vacationing with a family or with kids, we were looking for a quite romantic get away for just my wife and I, this was not the case by any stretch of our imagination. When we arrived we found it difficult to find where the lobby was located, we drove around a few minutes trying to figure this out, one would think there would be parking attendants or door/ bellhops around to give you a visual clue? We found a house keeping person and they helped direct us to front of the hotel we're we could check in. When we drove up there were no parking or valet attendants anywhere, we waited around a few minutes, in fact I walked around looking for someone or anyone, nobody was around. So we walked our luggage to the lobby, keeping in mind it was 104 degrees outside. We checked in a the front lobby, nobody asked if we needed any help with our luggage, there were no doorman or a concierge anywhere in fact never saw one our entire stay? Upon checking in nobody explained what restaurants were onsite or any happening events, we were not briefed on the spa, pool or gym/ health club amenities which was the main reason for our stay here at this resort? Our room was nice and we enjoyed that along with the great housekeeping service. We had to ask housekeeping where the pool was located, we were excited to get in the water and headed to the pool to find it full of kids running around and having a blast except this was not the tranquil pool experience we were hoping for? We came back later in the evening around 10pm hoping for a quite swim, we found the pool still loaded with kids, the pool is open 24 hours, we never found a quite time to swim. We got in for about an hour but the chlorine was so strong it made both us itchy, we had that chlorine smell on us for two days. I talked my wife into trying the pool one more time, it was so hot outside and I wanted to get into the water. We had to get our own towels, water and set up our lounge chairs and umbrella? I had to search for a pool attendant to order drinks. Once we did Cassidy our server was very attentive on keeping our pina coladas coming!! We also learned they had an adult pool which we immediately moved to as the main pool Was loaded with screaming kids. The adult pool was a joke, basically it was the same size small pool you would see at a Marriott Courtyard, This was a big let down, the pool faces the Camel Back Mountain but you can't see anything in the water except a concrete wall! There should be an Infiniti pool with a million dollar view? A child went to the bathroom in the main pool and they had to clear that pool out to clean it, so the adult pool was invaded, again no quite relaxing time. One of the mornings we tried to go workout when we found the gym, honestly another let down for this size resort. We had to ask where the spa was located but at this point we were so disappointed in the resort we just decided to cut our loses, we never saw any hotel management, or any other employees asking how are stay is, do we need anything or just plainly say hello. It was hard to spend money at this resort because nobody would ask if we ever wanted anything? One last thing I noticed from the day we arrived and didn't think much about it until I kept seeing them daily. They must use off duty law enforcement to guard and patrol the property? I noticed a unmarked law enforcement vehicle parked at the entrance of the property 24/7 in blacked out tinted windows, we also saw them parked by the pool in the evenings and from time to time marked uniformed police driving through the property, it seemed strange to see this at a resort where you should feel relaxed and safe! I appreciate security and in fact employing LE is great but it would be much better to make them blend in with staff. Unfortunately we felt we stayed at an upgraded Marriott Courtyard with a million dollar view but staff, service and amenities were nowhere near the quality or high standards of what other JW or Ritz Carlton locations have offered.
