  • Whenever we visit our daughter in Pgh, we always come for breakfast at Square Cafe. The menu is so creative. You want bacon and eggs? Fine. But you want something unique, you will find it here. I normally won't wait more than 10 minutes for any meal, but i will wait, however long it takes here. While waiting outside some guy pulled up and asked me why the long wait. I showed him the menu. on our 8/18/14 visit, i had corned beef hash and eggs. Whatever image you have of this in your head is wrong. We are talking chunks of salty lean corned beef, mushrooms and shallots lightly sauteed in sweet butter with tiny potato halves. All of this sits under two perfected pan cooked over easy eggs. Add some perfect rye toast and a stunning pottery mug (I bought two) of coffee and you have an unique breakfast for less than what you'ld pay at Dennys. It is my must visit any time i come to Pgh.
