| - Just had a birthday dinner here, and this place has definitely kept its edge. They still fill up, even on a Wednesday night with temperatures below zero.
In my initial review, I gave a lot of detail on the food I had. They give their food and drink so, so much thought, that this only seemed fair. Their menu changes frequently, so I thought this time I might be a little more general.
Their cheese and meat plates/boards are extremely well put together, and surprisingly generous. In my most recent visit, I had an big wedge of amazing aged Spanish blue cheese served with a large handful of candied almonds, Meyer lemon jam, and several slices of toasted bread. I felt $10 was pretty reasonable, especially considering how perfect it was.
They make their own pasta, and it's fabulous. The portions are a little small, but it's just so freaking good it's hard to complain.
Order adventurously. I had beef tongue with yuzu and mochi AND IT WAS BOMB.
The service is wonderful. At such a high-end place, you might think the service would be snobby or intimidating, but I've only had good experiences here. The wait staff is really helpful, so don't be afraid to ask what something is, or what it tastes like! Their recommendations are often quite good as well.
