I rank this as A-OK because I've definitely had better, but on a scale of what is available in Madison, this place is probably the closest you're going to get to authentic. I like the area that it is in and it definitely reminds me of home. They have a good selection of Korean dishes, but i will note they are on the pricey side. What you get to do when you're pretty much the only Korean restaurant. I was in a super craving for dobbokki so i when i visited i walked in and ordered it right away with a side of seaweed soup. What is great about this place is that the side dishes come out first, as usual, for no charge. It definitely held me over since i was starved.
The dobbokki was good. Not amazing or excellent but good. it satisfied my craving and had an abundance of the rice cakes and fish cake. It could have been a bit more spicy and i feel like the sauce was a little sweeter than i'm used to. the main critique is that the rice cakes themselves were overcooked and a little mushy.
The seaweed soup hit home. It has beef in it so be aware! But you can't go wrong with seaweed soup.
The restaurant was packed for saturday lunch so i was happy to get a table and served very quickly. I will be back to try their tofu soup (soondobu/cheege). But that'll be another time. Til then!
Happy findings!!
