  • I first went to FRANCIS & SONS GLENDALE AZ 85308 because there was mud under my car. I asked if they could spray it off with their power sprayer. They wanted me to pay them $30.00 for that. I said "you know I really need to have a full detail because I had just purchased the car and it had dirty carpet and some minor scratches on the side. I asked what they charged for the full detail inside and out. They told me about all the products they would use and how they would lightly wet sand the area with the scratches and assured me that I would no longer see them. So I bought it hook line and sinker. They also asked me when the oil was last changed and I explained that I had just bought the car so I didn't know. The service manager came over and to tell me that BMW's really need to have a good maintenance service plan in place and that they were running a special for fully synthetic oil changes for $64.99 so I said Okay your probably right. I went inside and waited for my car to be pulled in and for the service person to meet me inside to write up my ticket. He came inside and asked me to come look at my car. He pulled the dip stick out and showed me the oil on the end. It was pretty clean actually and in my head I was thinking maybe I really don't need an oil change. I couldn't believe the words coming out of his mouth when he said. "See how black your old oil is, I recommend you purchase this "oil system treatment" for and additional $20.00. I should have saw the red flags and left right then. I was polite and said. "No thank you" Please just do the listed items. Then he presented up sale number 2. The $64.99 only covers Valvoline Oil. You really need Mobile 1, it gives you longer driving time between oil changes (he said how long but I couldn't remember) and it's just $ 10.00 more. I again politely said "No thank you, Valvoline oil is just fine, as long as it's fully synthetic". So I agreed to leave my new baby in their hands. We agreed on a price of $199.00 for the detail, and I was expecting to pay $64.99 for the oil change special on the oil lube and filter. I came back 4 hours later and they were just finishing up. 1) ABOUT THE INSIDE DETAILING- The carpet was cleaned and it came out very nice in the middle. They neglected to get into the cracks and crevasses. So down where the seat adjustment track is you could still see where someone had spilled coffee, you could still see sand and dirt on all the edges. What it looked like was they started cleaning the carpet without vacuuming first. The easy to reach places were wiped down but the hard to reach places still had dirt and spilled coffee stains and sticky remnants. The leather seats were wiped down with something but not clean. In other words what ever leather treatment they used they just put it on without cleaning the leather first. 2) ABOUT THE OUTSIDE WAX- In my opinion, if you have to go back and wipe off white wax and residue, they did a bad job. There was wax on my lights, on the trim and several spots on the body. I was really pissed when I noticed that my side mirrors and windows had water spots on them. It looked like they had the windows down and when they rolled them up the wet window glides smeared the water and they forgot to wipe it off. They didn't even clean the spoked wheels but the rubber was shinny. Looking at my car outside, I was disappointed. I made a mental note to not come here again and proceeded inside to pay for the rest of my bill on the oil change. 3)ABOUT THE OIL CHANGE- I was really pissed when I saw that my bill was not $64.99 it was $131.99. In addition to the extra oil that I wasn't prepared to pay for (BMW's take 8 quarts instead of 5) I was charged $24.96 for the oil filter which I thought was included with an oil change. I have no complaint coming with the additional $30.00 for the oil but they should have told me that from the beginning. I'M SURE I CAN GET FUTURE OIL CHANGES FOR MY CAR FOR LESS THAN $131.00. To add insult to injury on my way to an appointment two days later the "low wash" light came on for my fluids. I think maybe I should have someone check my fluid levels, which was supposed to be part of the service. SORRY FOR THE LONG RANT BUT PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW.
