| - I took my 20 month the ER here yesterday, because his Pediatrician was out of town. (Should have brought him to PCH :( ) The check in was horrible - we waited about 15 minutes with my son SCREAMING his head off; and not once did someone ask me if it was an emergency, or if he was okay. Once checked in, we sat in the lobby for about 1.5 hours; with my baby screaming, it was obvious he was in pain. Everyone was nice, (Except for the ED Resident DR) especially the x-ray technicians. They were nice, sweet and patient with my son, so he wasn't scared of the 12 X-RAYS they took.
NOW - the bad part, I brought my son in for overall lethargy, and refusal to walk or to get out of bed; and refusal to lift his head - and when I picked him up he cried. This went on intermittently for about 24 hours. Upon admission, the docs asked me what was wrong "I don't know" I said, this it just not normal. They did a physical exam, skipping over the part that my son has a birth defect, that required him to have his skull and eyebrow sockets reconstructed to avoid intracranial pressure, less than a year ago. The never looked in his ears (ear infection) throat, considered meningitis, or complications with intracranial pressure. They gave him Ibuprofen, when I told them I gave him some 2 hours ago. I got the Spanish Inquisition from a few different people about why I didn't seek treatment yesterday, if it had been going on for 24 hours. Well he was worse today DUH! They asked if he had any injuries that could make him hurt, I said I guess he could have fallen off the couch (on my CARPET) I guess.
What they did do; called CPS and told them I neglected my son, and it caused him to have injuries. WHAT?!?!?!?! You've got to be kidding me - no bumps, no bruises, and because YOU MISDIAGNOSED him with "Possible Collarbone" injuries, I am neglectful. Absolutely ridiculous. 12 X-Rays that showed NOTHING! (we called before the xrays, and the injuries were inconsistent with the story she gave) WELL DUH!!! because there was no injury.
We were discharged after the meeting with CPS (lol) and never was I told anything about why he was acting that way, or what was wrong with my baby boy. We were there for 7 hours, nothing to eat, drink etc. (even for HIM!!) I left my wallet in my car :( - I couldn't leave, blah blah - they told me to go outside to get it. (they were probably scared I was going to neglect my son again? lol)
My son was taken a pediatrician today, (less than 12 hours after discharge) and I was told he had a double inner ear infection. ANd he has an emergency consult with his Neurosurgical Team next week.- Shame on you Banner, for wasting the time and resources of everyone, in this situation.
I have filed every grievance I can appeal today, with every State Agency.
