| - I am a local teacher and enjoy one of the few perks that having this career has-- insurance. Every month is a financial challenge, but I pay for eye care insurance so I can use my annual eye exam. Last month I called Horizon Eye Care on two separate occasions to make sure they accept my eye insurance. Stating they do, I joyfully made an appointment. At my appointment, I showed the receptionist my insurance card and all my documents to again make sure they accept my insurance for the appointment. This simple eye exam ended up taking 2 and a half hours. To add insult to injury, when I went to check out they then claimed they don't take my insurance. Obviously feeling duped and mislead, I left feeling scammed. I was told they would call me the next day with a resolution. The next day, I was happy to find out that they would honor my intended expected cost because of their mistake. Yesterday, I received my bill and lo and behold, I was fully charged while they used my medical health insurance, not my eye insurance that they lied and told me they accepted. They are now denying any agreement and refusing to adjust. I would not be contacting anyone normally, but after doing my research two other of my close friends have had the exact same experience. They too were told their insurance would be accepted, and then when it comes time to pay, suddenly they realize they were lied to.
