  • The food did not stop coming out. The flavors! The flavors! I had the vegetarian "shorter" tasting menu. If you want the veggie menu, you have to ask for it, because they don't present it to you immediately. When the first two courses of the tasting menu came out, there were on a little spoon and a tiny cup. I was worried that I'd have to eat elsewhere afterward if everything on a six-course tasting menu would be bite-sized. But how wrong I was! The serving sizes got progressively larger. Each time I got a bit more full. By the time my main course came out, I was officially stuffed. And I still had the dessert course and the optional cheese course ahead of me. They were incredibly accommodating to my dietary restrictions. The main course I wanted had gnocchi. I asked them if it was wheat and potato-based, and my server immediately responded that they can provide a vegetable substitution of mushrooms if I prefer. I said yes, and the meal was excellent. So many different kinds of mushrooms! I opted to have a cheese course in between my main and dessert. And I'm soooo glad that I did. Definitely don't skip the cheese course. They have a cheese-man and supposedly hundreds of cheese in the cellar. He asks you what you want - taste, texture, age, whatever -- and he brings it to you based on your ideas if you don't request something specific. The cheese was probably one of the best parts of the entire meal. But I love cheese (though I can't eat cow cheese anymore), so I'm partial. He brought me two sheep's milk and two goat's milk cheeses. My only complaint is that the dessert -- as intricate, delicious, and creative as it was -- did not flow well with my vegetarian menu. As you can probably see from some pics, they bring you a tree with pink cotton candy, plus more small candies, plus lots of cookies, plus a custard, plus something else, and a cute box to take it all home in since you definitely won't get through it while you are there. Don't get me wrong - it was impressive and yummy (though I could only eat a few bites), but I would have preferred if, for the vegetarian menu, I was offered something fresher, such as fancy fresh fruits, gelato, candied nuts, other cheeses, or lighter and more plant-based dessert fare without so much sugar. The service was incredible. I felt like a star eating there - for an almost three-hour meal on my own. I would absolutely recommend this place, but keep in mind the dessert course if you order the veggie tasting menu. And don't forget to get the cheese!
