There is a reason that all the nonnas and nonnos swarm this place early Saturday and Sunday mornings - absolutely great bread. Best Italian bread in Toronto. Often there are four distinct types of bun. It really is a staple for local Italian families for good reason.
The rest? Meh. They often have good sales on Barilla pasta. The Brio is always cold. There are some Italian oils, an olive bar, specialty pastas, but nothing to write home about. I haven't tried the canoli. Their cold cut counter is pretty limited. They have minimum orders on cheese and cold cuts (usually 100 grams).
The hot plate is not consistent - the quality of sausages vary depending on the batch, veal sandwiches are hit and miss depending on how long they've been sitting out, but the pizza is pretty good.
Stick to the cheese-only pizza. Strange thing with the pizza is that they put the toppings underneath the cheese, which makes for very flaccid pepperoni or sausage. Sometimes you order a cheese and pepperoni pizza slice from someone behind the counter that wasn't on shift when the pizza was made and doesn't know which slice is which and because you can't see the toppings you end up with a piece that has tomato or eggplant underneath all that cheese. Weird.
