| - There's not a whole lot of indoor activities to do in Phoenix besides shopping and museums, so when this Butterfly Wonderland opened up, I was really excited! Plus I'm a huge animal freak. So we went, and butterfly enclosure was nice and big and had lots of butterflies and the video was interesting.
BUT Here's why I only gave it 3 stars:
- Located in the middle of nowhere. Be prepared for a 45-min. drive if coming from Peoria or Glendale
- Confusing admission lines. Due to the 100+ degree weather, they re-directed the line from the outdoor ticket stands to the indoor gift shop check-out counter. What resulted was a confused mass of people standing around in the gift shop not realizing that some lines were credit card only. Why they put the ticket counters outside in the first place is a mystery.
- Butterfly enclosure was torturously humid. Combine that with the fact that you're basically in a greenhouse, and you've got one sweaty, uncomfortable lady here. It was too hard to enjoy the plants, flowers, and butterflies with buckets of sweat pouring off my face. We had to leave the greenhouse so I could recover before going back out to see more butterflies.
- Expensive admission for the amount of stuff you get to see. Besides the butterfly greenhouse, there's really only a 3D butterfly movie, a cocoon nursery, and an ant farm to look at.
