Today I was scheduled to depart Pittsburgh on American Airlines at 8:00am this morning. When I awoke this morning, I received a voice mail from American Airline stating that my flight was cancelled. They booked me on a flight departing at 1:00pm. They said they were sorry, but no compensation was added. I fly American Airlines a lot. They seem to be always late or delayed. I understand that things happen. I am more interested in getting there safe, than on time. I get that. What I don't get, is if they want me to be flexible...then why can't they be flexible with me when I fly. Example: two months ago, I was in Chicago on a return flight back to Pittsburgh. I had only carry on luggage and I got to the airport a couple of hours early. There was a flight departing 6:00pm to Pittsburgh. I was on the 9:00pm flight to Pittsburgh. I asked if I could take the 6:00 flight. American Airline said "yes....that will be $200.00 change fee". Are you kidding me???? The flight cost $250.00 total. They had room and I did not check any luggage...why can't they be flexible and let me get on early without a penalty? If you want me to be flexible with you...why can't you be flexible with me? Or can I charge you a $200.00 change fee for today's cancelled flight?
