| - My fiancé and I have made a handful of purchases in the last two years and have always been happy with the service provided to us. This last visit made us NEVER want to deal with this location ever again. We recently purchased a new home and had a particular dining table set and additional living room set in mind. When we arrived yesterday we had realized we had forgotten our tape measure (silly us), but usually the sales associates are happy to help so we asked an available associate, Irene, if we could use hers. First, she looked at my fiancé and blew him off. Then when he asked the associate near her, she suddenly wanted us to borrow hers (go figure)! We started to measure a buffet to fit a specific spot in the home- off by a hair! Irene said, "That is a VERY large piece of furniture. Would it fit in your home?". I stated that it would, but it was actually a little too small for the space. Right behind it was the dining table we were eyeing, a fairly large farmstyle table that could extend even more if needed. Irene said, "This is a VERY large dining table, I mean verrrryyyy large." which I replied, "Looks like it would fit the space perfectly, thanks." Well, she didn't stop there. She continued by saying, "Yeah, very large table. It's meant for a LARGE home - LARGE dining room. What is the square footage of your home anyway?" Hey - maybe it's because we're young, maybe it's because I was in my weekend clothes...who knows, but I couldn't believe we were being questioned.
First off, I came in knowing the exact dimensions of what I was looking for which she was aware of. If she was just 'helping' to get a better feel of the space, I'm not buying it. Just going with it anyway, my fiancé told her the square footage and we walked away from her to look at living room sets (of course she followed). Even after learning the square footage of my home and that I had a pretty good handle on what I was needing, she questioned the size of our space for a couch we were interested in (with attitude again). So again, we told her we'd walk around and let her know if we needed any help.
We went over to the mattress department and was considering switching from a bed we had just purchased at another store because Walker was offering an upgraded version made by the same manufacturer. An older gentleman came over to see how we were doing and we explained that we were interested in possibly purchasing, but had a couple questions first about the difference in mattresses. When he realized we were planning on purchasing in a few days verses the same day he lost all interest in us and the conversation. As I was in mid-sentence, he said "Alright guys, well have a nice day" and walked away to chat with another associate a few feet away. No joke!
We are a very polite couple, so we weren't quite sure what was going on! I couldn't believe it! I felt like we were on a candid camera show! Nevertheless, we were so taken back by our experience that we called the distribution center for both sets we were interested in and made the trip out there instead. We gavd the sale to Jeffrey who was absolutely a pleasure to work with!
