| - 3.5/5 - Although not my typical neck of the woods, the scent of fresh baked goods can just not be ignored. A quick browse at the visual selection (because, really, who needs to look at a menu), and I decided on an *enormous* lemon square ($3.65).
After resisting the urge to indulge all day, it was finally time. With a small fork, I broke off a piece of the square and excitedly popped it into my mouth. "Wow, this is pretty sweet" were the first thoughts in my head, but having 90% of the treat remaining, I took a more generous chunk. Bites two, three and four hit me with strong acidity, while five, six and seven had me reaching for some hot tea. The texture of the curd is smooth and gooey, quite pleasant, really. Conversely, the cookie holds firm on a fork, yet yields to its crumbly goodness as soon as it enters the mouth.
As someone who enjoys lemon squares, this one was a little much for me and had my resting my fork at half. Maybe I'm just having a bad day today. However, I would not hesitate to try the number of other bars, cookies and cupcakes that are available here. Pro tip: if you order a cupcake, you can get whatever frosting you want on it.
Would I be back? Sure. I'd try something else.
