First impression, checked in and was not given the room I "chose" when I did online check in (I would never choose a room across from an elevator). Then, I go to the room and it is a non smoking room and it smells like smoke. So what else could be wrong, right?
I am a silver hhonors status on the verge of gold, and I have stayed at many properties this year to earn my status. I have stayed at about 3 Doubletree hotels and this one is by far the WORST one.
Rooms: 2 Standard Double Queen on the 14th floor
Pros:
Great bed with clean linens and made well, comfortable and no squeaks
A/C that really works and drowns out hallway noise (thank goodness)
Consistent free internet, not a lot of drops at all
Cons:
Door slamming
Dirty elevators and debris on the grounds
Stained upholstery and carpets so dusty you can see the lint in the corner
Tiny bathrooms where you have to step in to close the door
Ran out of regular coffee for two days so they stock decaf like that helps
TVs do not have HDMI port
Not the usual Doubletree standard (I had to ask for the complimentary water and cookie)
Next to the convention center - I see this as a con for me because of the type of people it attracts, others may see it as a positive
Hallways are not air conditioned and muggy
Overall: I am used to a higher level of quality from Hilton, so I am disappointed with my experience and I will most likely not stay here ever again.
Edit: last night the AC went out and this morning when checking out there were no luggage carts. The excuse from the staff is that people have kept them in their rooms. If you have so few, maybe you should keep an eye on them so it doesn't happen at all.
