First week of college I had to go to McKinley for pain in my lower eighth abdomen. I didn't really know what it was, though I thought it could have been appendicitis from the online research I did before (not a good idea for hypochondriacs). When I got to McKinley I waited for forever as they took blood from me and conducted a pelvic exam. The doctor then pushed me to go to the hospital and get a CT scan, where my mom got on the phone and obliged due to the fact that the doctor said he wasn't even "sure" if it was appendicitis. He also told me that I may have to go to emergency surgery the next day if it gets worse and that I shouldn't eat/ drink for 24 hours.
I later spoke to my aunt who described appendicitis to me and explained that I shouldn't be worried (even though the doctor scared the crap out of me that my appendix may burst if I don't get a CT scan). Turned out the next morning that I was just constipated and I needed some murilax in my system. Glad my mom got involved and didn't let me go to the hospital because that would have been 1000 dollars down the drain to find out that I was just a little "backed up". I am now scarred from going back there after the pelvic exam that the male doctor conducted and I don't believe I will be coming back even when necessary. I heard that going to urgent care on campus is a better call.
