Yesterday was a cold day ( well ... anything is "cold" when your use to consecutive days of 100°+ in California! Haha!) in Pittsburgh , I really wanted some pho! We walked in to Tan Lac Vien at about 2:20pm when they were about to close at 3 pm - oops! We were one of those customers - sorry!
I ordered the vegan pho but I didn't want tofu, I wanted chicken. The Waitress was more than able to accommodate that. My husband also got pho, but with egg noodles. My dad got one of those bowls with no broth and my step mom ordered fried rice.
The fried rice was hella good. I really liked the bean sprouts in it. My dads bowl was good, it had shrimp and I liked the crunchy texture of it. My pho was good, despite the broth which tasted sort of how a dirty sock smells :\ I never tried the egg noddles before , but I really liked them in my husbands pho.
Oh!! We also ordered fried egg rolls and fresh spring rolls. I didn't try the fresh ones which are my favorite but I did love the fried ones.
They didn't have hot chili oil on the tables nor did they bring anything like that out with the order which was kind of a bummer. I did ask the waitress and she brought something similar like that out
Maybe we came at a bad time or maybe their broth just isn't their strong point. Maybe it was Payback for coming in before closing.
I don't visit Pittsburgh often, I may or may not be back.
