| - The food was good, but my overall experience was subpar. Prices are too high; the lighting (at least in the back corner room near the kitchen) was so low that I wanted to go to sleep; and the lack of customization of your meal choices is a big downside. Each meal comes with house wine, garlic bread, soup/salad, and cappuccino - which probably explains the overly priced plates. However, it felt like we were almost forced into getting all of the extras. For example, besides trying it out, we didn't drink any of the wine - which makes me wonder, how much wine do they waste in a night? Similarly, the cappuccino is served to you whether or not you want it. Some people in our group didn't drink theirs, and I probably would have passed on it too had they even asked us - especially if it would lower the price of the meal!
The biggest area for improvement, though, would have to be the service. Simple things (or what I think is simple or even common sense) like introducing yourself, smiling, and pointing out useful information can go a long way (e.g., the menu is on the wall, but we initially thought it was just part of the decor. It would have been nice if the hostess pointed that out when showing us our table.) Our server was decent and a little more friendly, but he had an assistant (or maybe he was the food runner?) that was uncomfortably awkward. It's hard to put into words what he was doing, but basically, he and the hostess could definitely improve on their customer service skills.
I want to like the restaurant - especially because it seems like it has a lot of history and the main dishes are good. However, I don't think my future visits to Vegas will include going to this hole in the wall place. The staff has plenty room for improvement in their communication and customer service skills.
