My spouse had an appointment today at 10:30. The Dr was running late due to a complication from a previous patient. I get it... things happen. He was running 2 hours behind. When a patient has had nothing to eat for 36 hours and nothing to drink for 6 hours it is a lot to expect that they be patient with the delay. My problem with this situation and often many other physician offices is that patients are charged for cancellations, missed appointments etc because time is money. Well our time is money also. Build in time to your schedules to allow for the things that happen. Someone from the office could have called an communicated that they were running behind instead of having sitting in the horribly uncomfortable waiting room furniture for hours.
Total wait time in office before she finally decided enough waiting was 3.5 hours and she still had another 1 before maybe getting to the procedure. Total salary losses for us sitting there and wasting vacation time 16 hours @ $100 per hour. Please be expecting a bill for at least that.
