| - This is one of my all time favorite places to dine. I love the opulent décor, incredible view, classic menu and the high level of service.
Tonight's visit to Le Mont for my Birthday celebration has me feeling a little disappointed, and I certainly hope the management can fix these few minor things and bring the
dining experience back to 5 stars.
The first thing I noticed when I arrived was the lighting on the stairs from the entranceway to the dining level. It is only a couple of short steps, but they are very wide.
The lighting under the steps looks to be a bargain basement LED strip lighting that was obviously incorrectly installed. It was hanging down, shining in the customers faces and the color was all wrong. It was a bright white LED hue that would be used in Walmart or in a basement workshop. I cannot believe that the management actually accepted this light installation from the get go. It may seem like a small detail, but it completely destroys the initial mood when you arrive. I have included a photo.
The Le Mont salad was very tasty, except the dressing was a bit sharp. My Pork Chop, while tender and very lean, was rather bland. The cherry / apple glaze did not penetrate the meat enough to give it any deep flavor. Risotto was excellent as well as the vegetables. My dining companions meals looked and I was told were excellent, they ordered the Scallops and the prime rib.
We ordered the Cherries jubilee, which was excellent, but I noticed that the server preparing the dish tableside opened a sugar packet to sweeten the sauce. I would have expected a small ramekin of the required sugar to be on the tray, not a 5 cent sugar packet. Very tacky.
A few other small issues were that the live band was a bit too loud for fine dining, the wallpaper in the men's room upstairs was peeling, the print on the menu was too small for such a dimly lit area and those lights on the entrance stairs... my god ...simply unacceptable.
My opinion is that it's still a great place to dine, but some of the edges are getting a bit rough. It is the small things that add up to make the whole experience complete.
