| - The park the park how have I not reviewed the park! I used to live across the street, and the green wall of leaves and bright clean air was the most amazing thing to wake up to and go to bed to and to ease the frantic, cement-heavy parts of the city. If you are new to the park, I'd suggest coming at it from the Esplanade side, check out the beautiful brightly coloured houses that line that side, the picnic spots, the tennis courts, the kids playing soccer, and then as you walk towards the "mountain" which is really more of a big hill, you'll see the iconic statue that is the epicenter of the Sunday tamtams. Party here for a while, dance with the tourists and locals, then keep following the wide paths that loop up the hill to the beautiful lookouts at the top.
If you go to Beaver Lake in the winter there is a beautifully maintained ice skating rink, you can rent skates or skis, there are excellent cross country ski trails and tobogganing hills all over the mountain, if you head in deeper you can walk through the lovely stillness of the cemetery. In the summer you will stumble on jugglers, medieval recreationists, people practicing tumbling and trapeze, people playing music and drinking wine and eating food and dancing till late. It's weird and wonderful and I'm a huge fan.
