  • Recommended for: ~Forensic geeks ~Tweens and Teens that aren't squeamish or want to learn about forensics ~Something different to do in Vegas I purchased two Groupons for CSI: The Experience for $30 for two cases each because I have been wanting to try this out since it started some hundreds of years ago. I have read reviews and I knew that it was not going to be some amazing experience and that it would be basic and educational versus exciting, but I was in anyway. We arrived and I had expected that they took people in groups, but no, you go in either on your own, in couples or in groups of 3 or more. I think anymore than three though, it could get a little awkward at the "stations" you go to to "solve your crime" because there is only so much space. We were two so they had us and another group of two watch a video about what we were about to do. There are three crime scenes. Since we were doing two they gave us 1 and 2, but it seems like most people start with 1 so it can get crowded in the crime scene. There ended up being plenty of groups in all of the crime scenes and was busier than it looked when we walked in. Once you are in your crime scene, you have a page on which you can document the crime scene, drawing pictures and looking for things that can be clues. My husband was super thorough and I had to keep telling him, its not going to be a super hard challenge, so you don't have to make it harder than it is. Once we left the crime scene and entered the "lab" we realized how right I was. Each crime scene had about five stations you went to to figure things out about finger prints, DNA, mobile phone data, bloodwork, etc etc... the final stop is the autopsy room where we get to see an "autopsy" taking place and have the cause of death explained. When you finish one scene, you go back to your other scene and do it all over again. It is educational. It is basic. Its not exciting. But, I enjoyed doing it and it was something different. Even though there is one scene left we didn't do, I probably would not go back, but I would not tell others not to. I just think it is important to go into it understanding what it is and then you can enjoy it.
