| - A small complaint is to come...
I've been here a bunch... mostly for events like Winter Fest, the Farmers Market and kid's programs. I've walked all the trails as well, including to the lodge on the west side and the caves on the east.
However, one time, I decided to take my bicycle down one of the trails that wasn't marked as a bike path. It was in fact the bridle and walking path. I DID NOT notice the lack of a "bicycle" symbol on the sign, and also did not think that a trail could be good for horses but not good for bicycles. I ride my bike on several paths in the park system that allow both- not sure why this one doesn't. Usually the paths that don't allow bikes, don't allow horses as well- because of rugged terrain or a greater need for trail preservation. And usually, horses are excluded before bikes because horses are much more destructive to kept trails.
Anyway, I rounded the last corner by route 87, heading east, traveling about 4 mph, and came upon an old nag of a lady riding an old nag of a horse. I greeted her, "Hello! Nice day!" She responded, "Umm, for your information, bikes are not allowed on this path," -very nasty. "This is the Bridle Path!" -and walking trail. She evidently took some executive privilege in kicking hikers off as well.
I said, "OK," to which she huffed and grunted. I must say, she made me feel downright unwelcome. I pay my share of Geauga County taxes. Does she?
Right after I passed her, her horse took a huge dump, simultaneously flatulating enough to float a zeppelin, and evacuating a small pond from it's bladder right in the middle of the trail. Lady! No more Beef-a-Reeno for the horse!
