| - I recently stayed at Hotel Le Cantlie Suites for a mother-daughter weekend. We chose the hotel as the nightly rate was decent and the reviews were quite good, as well. I arrived on Friday around 11am, knowing that check out wasn't until 4pm, but traffic was great and I arrived much earlier than expected! I pulled up to the hotel, but there wasn't any space to stop in front of the hotel, nor was there anyone there to take my car (or at least tell me where to park!). I had to circle the block again, and a spot opened up. I threw on my 4-ways and ran in to find out what to do about parking and they told me to turn on Peel and enter through the alleyway. I was surprised that 1. there wasn't a driveway to pull into in front of the hotel to unload my luggage and 2. there wasn't valet. For the nightly rate of parking, I would have expected both! It was only salt in my wound when I walked by every other hotel on the strip and saw a well-dressed man run out of each hotel to unload luggage and take the car off each driver's hands! Oh mon dieu! Parking issues aside, I went in to see if they could put me on the same floor as my Mom, given how early I arrived. The lady at the front desk was quite rude, and a gentleman, who saw that I was slightly impatient, asked what the problem was and took over. He was able to put me on the same floor which was great! The hotel elevators are eerily small, but the hotel is quite nice. The rooms themselves are nice, aside from the need of a little updating. My room was different from my Mom's, however, as I had a very large bathroom and she was stuck with a small little powder room, but we both had small kitchenettes with a small fridge, coffee maker, etc.. The walls are VERY thin, and you can hear conversations from the rooms beside you which was a pain. Luckily, Montreal is a great city, so we certainly didn't spend much time in our rooms! The location is wonderful as the Metro, bars, shops, etc. are all a short walk away and McGill's beautiful campus is less than 5 minutes away. Be sure to check out Crescent Street and Old Montreal for great food and entertainment! The checkout process was smoother than the check-in process. Overall, we had a great time, but will choose a different hotel next time. Au revoir!
